Anker has released a powerful Solix power station that's been a darling to users for some time now. Read on to see the qualities of this device.
Anker has invested heavily in the SOLIX branding over the last two years, transforming what was once a nascent venture into a formidable player in the portable and home backup power market.
The home backup power division of the battery company has become more and more robust, evolving into a comprehensive ecosystem with a wide range of offerings designed to ensure you’re never truly in the dark, whether facing a grid outage, exploring off-grid locations, or simply seeking convenient power for outdoor activities.
From massive whole-home power solutions to compact, highly portable units, SOLIX now caters to an impressive spectrum of energy needs and user scenarios.
I’ve recently reviewed one of the largest power stations in the fleet, a behemoth capable of powering essential home appliances for days, which truly showcased Anker's ambition in this space.
But today, we’ll pivot to a slightly different purpose and take a look at a smaller, yet incredibly capable champion: the new Anker SOLIX C1000 Gen 2 Portable Power Station, a unit squarely aimed at versatility and practical portability.
Design and Build
While I say it’s small, at just under 30lbs (approximately 13.6 kg), the second-generation SOLIX C1000 isn’t a featherweight, but it strikes an impressive balance between power capacity and manageability.
It’s significantly more portable and easier to maneuver than many other high-capacity Anker offerings, which often demand two hands or even wheels for transport.
Roughly the size of a small, personal cooler – think a 20-30 quart capacity – and probably around the same weight once you consider cooler storage contents, this unit embodies compact utility.
This makes for a design that is compact enough to tote pretty much anywhere with limited effort, whether you're loading it into the trunk for a camping trip, moving it from the garage to the patio, or stowing it away in an RV.
Robust, Powerful, and Timely
Anker's signature design philosophy is evident in the C1000 Gen 2. The unit features a robust, matte-finished outer shell, typically in a modern dark grey with subtle branding and accented by Anker's characteristic blue highlights around the ports.
This isn't just about aesthetics; the construction feels incredibly solid, designed to withstand the rigors of travel and outdoor use. The edges are subtly rounded, giving it a less industrial and more refined appearance, while likely also aiding in impact resistance.
An integrated, sturdy handle, often designed to fold flush with the top surface when not in use, is crucial to its portability, allowing for a comfortable grip even when carrying the full 30 pounds.
This ergonomic consideration ensures that despite its heft, the C1000 Gen 2 remains a genuinely single-person carry, making it an ideal companion for a wide array of adventures and emergency preparedness scenarios.
