OnePlus: Android 16-based OxygenOS 16 Open Beta

Android

The Android 16-based OxygenOS 16 Open Beta has officially launched. OnePlus has commenced the inaugural OxygenOS 16 Open Beta for its flagship devices from 2024 and 2023, enabling selected users to experience an early iteration of the Android 16-based update prior to its public release.

In this initial phase, the company is opening the beta program to the OnePlus 13, OnePlus 13R, OnePlus 13S, OnePlus 12, OnePlus 12R, and the OnePlus Open foldable model. Currently, the beta is confined to the Indian variants, but the company has indicated plans to expand the program to EU/UK and North American versions shortly.

Bugs, Discrepancies, Irregularities

It is important to exercise caution when installing a beta update on your primary device, as you may encounter bugs, discrepancies, and other irregularities that are typical in software still under development. Should you choose to proceed, it is advisable to create a complete backup and keep the rollback package readily accessible.

While OnePlus refers to this as an “open beta,” the company requires early adopters to complete a few preliminary steps. You will need to submit a questionnaire to demonstrate your preparedness, and the company states that application reviews may take up to five days. Once approved, the beta update will be delivered over-the-air.

Which Other Phones Will Get Oxygen 16?

OnePlus has not yet provided a comprehensive list of devices that will receive the Android 16 update; however, based on its official software maintenance schedule, it is reasonable to anticipate that the rollout will encompass various mid-range, budget models, and older flagship devices.

This likely includes the OnePlus 11, Nord 5, Nord 4, Nord CE 5, Nord CE 4, as well as the OnePlus Pad 3 and Pad 2. For additional information, refer to the thread shared by OnePlus community member Andy UK.
